Scary Minnie

Davelandblog presents Scary Minnie:

I can't get enough of these freaky early characters.  Somebody should start a blog devoted solely to creepy Disney mascots.  I'd read it.

Uncomfortable Moments in Disney Comics, Part 13

From this year's FCBD story, "Pluto the Racer"

Boy, the 1930's sure loved their stereotypical Italian characters.  I bet Mario the Plumber could have headlined his own strip back then.  Bobbida boopy?

The Luckiest

Electronic Mail: Mail Sent Electronically

I get emails!   Here's an email from reader Vic:

"Just last week I came across an essay that you may be interested in. It's pretty long and in .pdf form, but I found it very engaging.  Just in case you hadn't seen it yet, it's mostly a psychological analysis of clothing and nudity in cartoons starring Mickey, Donald, and friends. It's also extremely thorough!
Maybe its format and length don't make it suitable for posting about on your blog, but I immediately thought of Disney Weirdness when I first saw it."

Thanks Vic!

It Came From The Comic Shop

So I went down to the ol' Local Comics Shoppe today to pick up, among other things, kaboom's Duck Tales #1 and the latest decapitation fest from DC Comics. While I was browsing through the trade paperbacks, I spied this:

A Prince of Persia graphic novel, with a cover by Todd McFarlane. Yes, that Todd McFarlane.

I know this is old news, but I find this really bizarre. If you came out of your DeLorean in 1993 and asked 14-year-old Disney Weirdness if we'd ever see a Todd McFarlane Disney comic he'd laugh in your face, or, I don't know, mumble something snide under his breath. He certainly wouldn't have predicted this comic. Now this comic, on the other hand, anybody could have seen coming.

EDIT: Turns out I covered this comic already, back in March of last year. But come on, this shit is ridiculous. What's next, Rob Liefeld on Tale Spin?
