Mutha Hubbard

Al Hubbard is the fourth-best Duck artist for two reasons.  One, he draws Dogfaces that look like dogs with human bodies, instead of like humans wearing black clown noses:

Separated at birth?

Two, he draws the best forward-facing Uncle Scrooge in the business.

Looking forward to the upcoming Fantagraphics volume for more of this, it's good stuff!

Pretty Good Sure As You're Born

It's about time, I love the ride but it is....problematic. I had a tough time explaining the whole thing when I brought the kids a couple years ago.  Princess and the Frog is a much better movie so this is a win all around.

The Greatest Comic Book Collector In The World

Ladies and Gentlemen, today I would like to announce my retirement from comic book collecting, as I have just procured one of my personal Holy Grail comics:

Air Pirates Funnies #2!

So what if there's a hole in it, and a crease on the back cover, and I've already read it online a hundred times-  It's MINE!

In these troubled times, a nation turns its lonely eyes to this  Dick Tracy ride that never got made.

(People tell me you can watch Dick on the new HBO Max thing but my cable company doesn't carry it for reasons?)

The newest issue of the comics zine Bubbles has an interview with Harry Fluks, creator of the invaluable resource INDUCKS, along with articles on early Dungeons and Dragons art, a Ben Marra interview, and a feature on the collage artwork of Jack Kirby.  So basically you need to own this.

Who has just three fingers and a thumb? THIS GUY

Only true 80's kids will remember the Golden Books "How To Draw" series:

Mickey Mouse and Friends and the DC Superheroes book were a formative part of my elementary school years.

And apparently I'm not the only one with warm feelings towards these books;
Flickr user tOKkA has posted their own take on the drawing exercises contained therein.
