It certainly made a lot more money than Return to Oz -- $116 million! I'm floored at how much Alice raked in this weekend... I didn't even expect half that much!
Yeah, that was kind of a shocker! I don't know the box office scores, but I can't imagine Sweeney Todd or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory made this kind of bank.
I liked Alice alright, but it was pretty much what I expected a Time Burton Alice movie to be. I'd like to see Burton do another Ed Wood or Big Fish, something slightly out of his normal routine.
Ed Wood is one of my all time Top 5 favorite movies. Brilliant, brilliant movie. Most other Burton films have kind of settled into a predictable pattern, y'know?
It's in my top five as well. I blame that film for a youth wasted on terrible B-movies, just as I blame Tim Burton's Batman for the countless hours and dollars I've spent on comics over the years.
Nothing I am, Nothing I dream, Nothing is new. Nothing I think or believe in or say.
Nothing is true. It used to be so easy,
I never even tried. Yeah, it used to be so easy.
But the last day of summer never felt so cold, The last day of summer never felt so old.
