I feel like I can trace this whole phenomenon by comparing 2009 posts ("Disney Steampunk!" "Princess Gear at Hot Topic!") to posts from say, 2015 ("The Incredibles is Randian Propaganda."  "Antivaxxers Ruin Disneyland.").
