Meta Pooh
We've known for years now that Winnie the Pooh is a total dick, but I was surprised to discover that he knows he's in a comic strip:
Take that, She-Hulk!

King Me
Woah snap, there's a Kingdom Hearts tabletop game now!
But just what the heck is Kingdom Hearts anyway? Don't ask me, I've read the comics and played the games and it still don't make a lick of sense.

Ole!
We watched Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros yesterday, because the kids got super into The Legend of the Three Caballeros series on the D+. I hadn't seen either movie since I was a little kid, but I always liked the Three from the Mexico ride in Epcot and the greatest Don Rosa comic of all time.
Anyway they were very dated (as are all Disney live action from the 40s and 50s), but the cartoons were great. Here is some Mary Blair concept art for the pair of features:

You Want It All But You Can't Have It
My kid is currently working his way through the Epic Mickey series, and has there ever been a video game so gorgeous to look at that is so boring to play? The camera doesn't go where you want it to, the controls are janky, and all you do is paint objects blue or green. That's it.
I really really wanted to love the first one back in 2010 but I played for a weekend and never went back.
The storyline is right up our alley too- basically there is a corrupt bad Disneyland called Wasteland where all the forgotten characters go that Mickey and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit have to make right.
It looks amazing:
But it's just..so....boring to play.
There are some images that stick with me though, like the Small World clock boss:
and the bit where it's revealed that there are actually many different iterations of Pete, including Peg-Leg Pete, Black Pete, and Small Pete, among others. But mostly it seems like a wasted opportunity.
The original concept art for the game was one of the early inspirations for this blog, so let's leave on a high note and imagine the game as it could have been:

Recess was such a good social philosophy cartoon that a group of passionate fans made a live-action sequel.
