Steampunk Willie

Mickey Mouse and the Amazing Lost Ocean is a steampunk sci-fi comic by Denis-Pierre Filippi and Silvio Camboni.

As with many European sci-fi comics the story doesn't make a lot of sense, but the visuals are incredible.  The colors by Gaspard Yvan and Jessica Bodart take it to another level.

I got this book from the library and read it in like ten minutes, but then spent close to an hour lingering over the drawings.  Recommended.

Eh, I don't know.  I like Jason Aaron OK but I don't know that he'd be my first pick for this type of thing. Hope I'm wrong!

Can't Stop Messin With The Danger Zone

Disney's Doorways To Danger is another oddball comic that I found surprisingly enjoyable.

This book came out in 2021 but I ignored it, assuming it would be some kinda Wimpy Kid middle school YA thing. While Jeff Harvey's art style is definitely in that wheelhouse, story-wise this could be a totally normal modern-day Duck Mouse adventure.

Our heroes find themselves in the cast of an Amazing Race style gameshow, racing in teams around the globe to locate a series of keys which will unlock a hidden treasure. Because this is an Uncle Scrooge comic, the treasure and the gameshow are more than they appear.

The characterization and dialogue are all perfectly in-character; I am not familiar with Tom Angleberger's other works ,but judging from this he appears to be a fan of the classic Disney Comics.  Like Donald Duck Visits Japan, this is an off-model, offbeat take on the Disney classics that is enjoyable for kids and longtime readers alike.

Zombie Nation

I'm about halfway through Zombie Coffee by Regis Loisel, and so far it's terrific. I've been waiting to get my hands on this since I first saw untranslated images over on the Fethry Society boards, and so far it does not disappoint. It looks and feels like a lost Depression-Era classic. But don't take my word for it!

I don't know anything about Mr. Vertigo, except that he's my new favorite character.
