Zine Scene

I made a little zine out of my sketchbook drawings of Disney characters.

Who you calling Dummy, dummy?

It's Christmas in July, Mouseketeers, because the highly anticipated new issue of Dummy Zine is out, and it's all about The Mouse!

Air Pirates, Rat Fink, Mickey Rat, Mad Magazine, Kaz-  this is the magazine I've been waiting for!

You can have your own copy of the notorious Wally Wood poster, if you wanted to tear out the pages.

Back cover ads, just like a real comic!

If you haven't ordered yours yet, you gotta get on that!  I'm gonna pore over this thing for the rest of the afternoon.

Parody Will Get You Nowhere

Good news, The Sincerest Form of Parody is back in print from Fantagraphics!

I borrowed the heck out of this from the library when it first came out.  If you were a fan of the Russ Cochrane Mad and Panic collections back in the day then you should love this.

Jonathan Bigfoot is the courtroom drama you didn't know you needed.

I'm A Cult Hero

Now that this early incarnation of The Cult is back, I hope they use their old logo on the t-shirts.

Don't even blink.

I'm such a Swiftie that I almost didn't notice Mark Hoppus's t-shirt:

Can't Stop Messin With The Danger Zone

Disney's Doorways To Danger is another oddball comic that I found surprisingly enjoyable.

This book came out in 2021 but I ignored it, assuming it would be some kinda Wimpy Kid middle school YA thing. While Jeff Harvey's art style is definitely in that wheelhouse, story-wise this could be a totally normal modern-day Duck Mouse adventure.

Our heroes find themselves in the cast of an Amazing Race style gameshow, racing in teams around the globe to locate a series of keys which will unlock a hidden treasure. Because this is an Uncle Scrooge comic, the treasure and the gameshow are more than they appear.

The characterization and dialogue are all perfectly in-character; I am not familiar with Tom Angleberger's other works ,but judging from this he appears to be a fan of the classic Disney Comics.  Like Donald Duck Visits Japan, this is an off-model, offbeat take on the Disney classics that is enjoyable for kids and longtime readers alike.
